Widget placement options
Most stores never need to read this page — the floating launcher installs itself automatically as a theme app extension the moment you toggle it on in the theme editor. It’s here for stores that want the chat panel somewhere other than a corner bubble.

Floating launcher (default)
Turned on under Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds, no code required. A launcher bubble appears at the position you set in Widget design settings and opens the chat panel in a modal window when clicked.
Your own trigger button
If you’d rather open the chat panel from an existing element in your theme — a header link, a
banner button — mark that element with a data-csw-trigger attribute. Clicking it opens the same
chat modal the floating launcher uses, without adding a second launcher bubble to the page. This
needs a small edit to your theme’s template by a developer or theme customizer.
Inline panel
For a page where you want the chat panel embedded directly in the layout rather than opening in a modal — for example, a dedicated “Ask us anything” page — place a single container element on that page and the full panel renders directly into it, with no launcher or modal chrome at all. This also needs a small theme edit.
One catalog, one set of settings
All three placements read the same widget settings (name, color, greeting, icon) from Widget design settings — there’s nothing placement-specific to configure beyond where the widget appears.
